Bopo vs. A Car

Remember a few posts ago i said that maybe something exciting will happen ... well i didn't expect anything like last night to happen.

This is Bopo.  Bopo is my mom's dog.  Bopo likes to run out the house when she wants to frolic in the street.  Last night Bopo was one lucky dog.

As i was getting ready to go out and see a friend of mine play i get a phone call from my mom ...

"heidi ... was is the number that's on Bopo's tag?"
"umm ... my number ..."
"okay ... well if you get a phone call from someone saying they have Bopo, let me know"

As you've probably guessed ... Bopo got out of the house and no one could find her.  To make a long story short ... Bopo got hit by a car and broke her leg.  off to the animal er we go ... they pissed me off.  Hello!!!  My dog got hit by a car ... is bleeding ... and looks like there is a bone hanging out.

Why did you wait 15 mins before you decided to register my dog???
Why is there only one vet?
Where is your technician so that they can go ahead and take my dog to xrays???
Why is the dog's condition next door more critical than my dog's???
Where is the vet???
Where is your technician???
HELLOOOOO WHY ARE WE NOT BEING TREATED?!?!?!

I had to tell my mom that i had to leave or it would have gotten really ugly.  I have heard horror stories about the ER that we went to and boy to see it first hand was scary.  All i kept thinking was what if my dog has internal bleeding?  Why are they taking so long?  This place does not know how to multi task.  My mom did not leave that place til 130 ... almost 4 hrs after we got there.  Wow ... i don't think they know how to determine what is critical or not.

So the diagnosis ... yep she definitely broke her leg and will need to have surgery so that it will heal right.

Today that's what we did and it's going to cost us $1200 :c/  All i know is that is one lucky dog.  Things could have been worse and i'm glad that it's not.  Hopefully Bopo has learned from this will realize how dangerous the street can be and will stay inside.  Oh and where did we find her ... the whole time after she got hit she managed to get back in the house and hang out in the living room.  I hope that i never have to go through anything like that with Snowflake ... she's like to frolic in the street too :c/

Snowflake and My First Real Photo Shoot

Snowflake and I have taken plenty of pictures together but we've always done studio pictures and this year i really wanted to go on a for real photo shoot. So entered a friend of mine and a fellow photographer. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the shoot. Don't you think she did a good job :) Now i have to figure out which one to put in my christmas cards this year ... which one do you suggest?

Not really an update ....

And that's mainly because not much has been happening. Between babysitting, working at my mom's boyfriend's shop and working at my regular 40 hr a week job i've really had no time to do anything else. So why post ... basically to let everyone know i'm alive and well :) hopefully this week will bring some exciting things to talk about.

101 in 1001

Okay so this whole goal thing that i started earlier has not been working ... obviously. so a few days ago i found this ... 101 in 1001. Basically it's a list of 101 things that you would like to do in 1001 days. That is something that is more doable for me. I am a person that loves lists and i even like crossing things off even better. PERFECT!

Here are the rules if you would like to join in on the fun :)

Complete 101 predetermine tasks within 1001 days.

Tasks must be specific (i.e. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable, or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (i.e. represent some amount of effort on your part)

Sound pretty cool huh? The hardest part for me is to think of 101 tasks that i want to do. Right now i am no where 101 but i am still going to list what i have so check back often to see what else i come up with .

So here goes ... my list of 101 things to be completed on June 25, 2012

Stop ... Rewind ... Press Play

So i need a do over. Is that allowed? This whole goal thing is going bad ... very bad!!! I was so excited about participating that i really didn't take the time to think about my goals ( i saw this challenge on the same day it started ) So now that i've had time to think here are my new and improved goals:

I need to get my creative mojo back. It's been gone a little too long. I recently moved and at my last apartment my craft room was pretty much my storage room. Everything went in there and never really came out. when i moved into my new apartment i didn't want the same thing to happen and well my craft room is looking like a hot mess. By the end of the challenge i am hoping to have my craft room up and running. I want to start creating things so craft room and 21 days of being creative is one goal. Since this is more a craft related goal i will probably post my progress on my craft blog which you can see here It needs some more attention.

My second goal is more to help with my photography. I am going to try to take pictures each day during the challenge to let you all get a glimpse into my world. It can be exciting for some of y'all lol Since i want to share this it is going to require me to be better at blogging. I need to get in the habit of taking pictures of every day things and not wait until the events in my life happen. You can't get better at taking pictures if you are not behind the camera.

So there you go ... my two goals. Hopefully i will be better and not fail before even really starting. I will start working on this tomorrow ... come on back and see how i'm doing :)

I'm baaaaack and 21 Day Challenge Day 1

Hi y'all! I know it's been many months since i've last blogged. Part was no internet other part is laziness and the walk to the pool where my internet access is seemed miles and miles away. Now that i'm more motivated to get to the pool (does looking at hot guys count as motivation) i'm hoping to post more often and maybe even back track and post posts that should have been posted a long time ago.

I'm really motivated today because i am going to start the 21 Challenge. You can find it at here It's a really cool concept and i'm really excited to try to break an old habit or start a good habit. The hard part for me is to think of a habit. For us creative types we should also try to incorporate this into a scrapbook page or into a journal/notebook. I'm going to work on that too and will post what i create here.

So here is what i am thinking as my goals. I'm have an issue with drinking a lot of coke ... i don't think i can completely cut them out so i'm limiting myself to two cokes a day. I think i can do it! I'm also going to try to be creative and create something each day ... i'm also going to throw in blogging for 21 days straight too. That's going to be a little hard but hey goals should be a little challenging :)

Well i have to close now ... the juice in the laptop is dying so i want to make sure i get this up and running before it totally dies on me. Hopefully this will inspire you to take on the 21 day challenge and if it does ... holla at me!

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Y'all ... i'm still here. I've been neglecting my blog and promise to start posting again ... once my laptop decides to connect to the internet again (i'm at work ... big no no lol). I have a lot to blog about so i am going to back date a lot of entries. Keep an eye out for them :)

This is a story about my favorite baseball team!

Friday was the Atlanta Braves home opener and so we decided to go to the game on saturday (2nd home game opener). My closest friends Joe, Josh, and Jason went and Josh and Jason brought their girlfriends, Amy and Nicole. We had a blast!!! I loooove baseball. It reminds me of the time my dad and i would go to games and him teaching me how to keep score. I love baseball probably just as much as i love football :) The Braves beat the Washington Nationals. The score was 5-3. YAY!!!

This is a story about the importance of sunscreen.

On Saturday i went over to my friend's, josh, house to hang out. When i saw his face i just wanted to die laughing. apparantly earlier in the day he went to see his nephew play ball and well he didn't put on sunscreen so his whole face got sunburned except where his sunglasses where. He calls this his racoon face. kids, this is why it is important to wear sunscreen.

This is the story of one bad dog and mud

We have been having so much rain this week that today was absolutely beautiful so to kill a little time i took Snowflake out on a walk. On our last walk the park flooded so most of the trail was washed out. So when i went today i was not certain if the water dried up since it really did not stop raining. We were in luck ... no water on trail instead we got mud in some places. At one point on our walk Snowflake was behind me and i started pulling on her leash to catch up but i felt like i was dragging her so i turned around and what was she doing??? ROLLING IN THE MUD!!!! What in the world? i told her to stop but i am pretty sure people who were walking around me thought i was crazy because i started scolding her like a little child. Good thing though i caught her when she was just starting to roll in the mud so there was not a lot of mud on her but enough. Little does she know ... dirty dog = bath ... and she does not like baths =)

I'll even make it easy for you ... i'll post a link to one of my fav songs from him (i was trying to post a video but it wasn't cooperating grrrr) And today i did something very exciting ... bought tickets to see him in concert on april 27. maaaan, i can't wait!!!

And if you have time ... check out You Give Me Something, You Make It Real and Undiscover are also on the top of my list too!

Oh he so awesome! Let me know what you think about this hot brit!!!

This is a story of great music and the park.

So on Friday i won some tickets to go to the symphony at the Rivercenter. I have never been to the symphony or to the rivercenter so i was soo excited to go. I asked my supervisor to go and it was awesome! The music was so beautiful and the soloist was breathtaking. Our tickets had us sitting in the balcony second to last row which means we had to walk some stairs. My legs are still so weak and it was so hard to walk up super steep steps so i was holding on the rail and using my upper body to literally pull myself up the steps. Once the symphony started we were able to move a few rows ahead of us since there was really no one there =(

Today Snowflake was a wild and crazy dog and since it was absolutely gorgeous outside so i was like "Let's go on a walk!" to work off her energy. Off we went to a local park and since it rained so much this week that the creek pretty much washed out most of the trail. We just walked around and Snowflake was in heaven. Now as i am writing this blog she is passed out and she really didn't get in trouble. Hmm ... i guess this walking thing really does work with the behavioral issues.

This is a story about church

So today i did something i have not done in a year. i went to church. it seems like for the past 3 years i only go to church in March. not sure why but this year it's going to be different. i am really am going to try to go every sunday to get spiritually fed. two weeks ago i was getting a strong urge to go to church. i think it's because i miss it. i wanted to go last sunday but slept through my alarm. this sunday my friend Shelice was giving a talk and i made every effort to go and listen ... even if it means going on two hours of sleep.
shelice's talk was awesome and there was a part that really stuck out and felt like it was meant for me. at the end of her talk she was reading a testimony by Elder Holland and he said:

"To all of you who think you are lost or without hope, or who think you have done too much that was too wrong for too long, to every one of you who worry that you are stranded somewhere on the wintry plains of life and have wrecked your handcart in the process, this conference calls out Jehovah’s unrelenting refrain, “[My] hand is stretched out still. I shall lengthen out mine arm unto them,” He said, “[and even if they] deny me; nevertheless, I will be merciful unto them, … if they will repent and come unto me; for mine arm is lengthened out all the day long, saith the Lord God of Hosts. His mercy endureth forever, and His hand is stretched out still. His is the pure love of Christ, the charity that never faileth, that compassion which endures even when all other strength disappears."
Lately i've been feeling lost and that my life has no direction. i feel stuck. i don't know if any of you have ever felt that way ... stuck. and i think i have disappointed people because i might have done wrong (according to the church). today people came to me and asked if i was new and it was hard to answer ... "yes um no um maybe. i've been in the ward for a year and am just now coming" but i guess it really doesn't matter what the answer is ... i came and making a decision to come back to church. that is what really matters. but i also am not sure if i can follow all the teachings as before but it could all change ... no guarantees though.
Before i close i must say ... this album is AWESOME!!!

This is a story where i get caught up.

Hi all!
So while i am doing laundry i figured i will sit down and take a couple of minutes and update you all with what's been going on lately.

First, when i last posted a for real post it was the day before my brother's birthday (March 11) and as i was surfing the web i came across a cookie monster song that says C is for Cookie. Well my brother has a love for cookies and i thought i would make a little video in honor of his b-day so check out the Birthday Cookie video!

The following Saturday i went out with a friend of mine to celebrate her birthday and almost got hit on by a 40 year old man. That's the story of my love life. LOL!

Then on Sunday my mom and her boyfriend took me, jon, my bestfriend joe, our two cousins chung jo and woong sik, to an all you can eat korean buffet for Jon's b-day. It was sooo yummy and we ate more than our tummies could hold.

Of course March 17th was St. Patty's Day and at first i was just going to spend the night at home but my brother convinced me to go out and join in on the festivities. I do not think i saw so much green in my life. My brother ran around like a leprechaun ... a 6'4" leprechaun. LOL! Oh what a night!
And then to end the week i got to hang out with friends last night. I have pictures but there were not taken on my camera so once i get copies i'll post them. So that's my week and a half in a nutshell. My goal is to try to be more consistent with posting so that I am not bombarding you all with a long entry. Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

This is a story about try to put a room together.

And this is why i can't get anythig crafts done. Hopefully it won't look like this by the end of this weekend. I really need to get it set up! It is currently my storage unit and i finally had it when i went to look for something for a project and i couldn't find it.

And here is Snowflake patiently waiting for her picture. She knew that i had to take her pic before she would move and she sat there til i did.

This is the story of music at the Alamo.

*** Update ***
I orginally made a video of the pics from last night but blogger was acting up and i just now realized that i can create a youtube account and make a link to the video from there. So i deleted the Smilebox and replaced it with a link. If you looked at the Smilebox photos please take a look at the video. It has one or two more pics and the music is my friend's song that i would love for you all to hear.
********

Last night a few of my friends and i went to a restaurant/bar called the Alamo in Newnan, ga to see our friend, Jason, perform. The Alamo used to be an old movie theatre and it was neat to go in there and imagine how it would have looked in the 50s or 60s. I am not sure when it closed as a theatre. Below is a link to a video with a few pics of the night. Enjoy!!!

Take a looksie at the video here

This is a story about getting homemade things.

Oh this sounds like fun so here goes!!!

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me!My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2. What I create will be just for you.
3. It’ll be done this year. {Translation: you may be waiting a little while}
4. You have no clue what it’s going to be … it may be cards, bread, a bookmark or a complete surprise to you (and me!) … Who knows? Not you, that’s for sure.
5. I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.
6. Most importantly, you must offer the same deal on your blog - the first 5 people to comment on your blog (or if you do not have a blog, facebook) get something made by YOU! If you’re not the kind of person that wants to make something tangible for others, how about some kind of service for them, any type, any size...

This is a story about my adventure to the hospital.

Can you pick which department of xray i was going to? If you picked Nuclear Medicine you are right. Part of my treatment for my hyperthyroidism was to the Medical Center and swallow a HUGE radioactive pill. So on Monday i did just that and then on Tuesday i ventured back. The first part of the test was to put some machine up to my neck and see all these lines go up and up and up. I really didn't know what that meant. I am guessing it is measuring the radioactive waves in my body. Next stop was to take pictures. I had to lay underneath some machine and they had to put a pillow at the top part of my back ... right under my shoulders so that i can stretch my neck. For 30 minutes i was laying with an arch in my back and after 20 minutes it hurt but i could not get comfortable because i had to stay still. Boy was i happy when they said i was done. i go back to my endocrinologist in 3 weeks for the results and will give a report then.

This is a story about white stuff we rarely see.

So at about 11 this morning i get a text from my brother that said: holy &!*#Y it's snowing. Now the talk of the weekend was "it's supposed to snow on sunday" and my response was " i won't believe til i see it" I have lived in Georgia for about 20 years and can count on one hand how many times it has snowed. Just about every year we will get a weather forecast that will state it will snow and we have had many disappointments.

So i get out of bed and try to focus on the world around me and just about scared poor snowflake when i yelled Snowflake it's snowing! LET'S GO OUTSIDE!!! I got myself together and thought about what in the world am i going to wear. I have no gloves, no hat, no coat thick enough and barely any sweaters. So i put on what i thought would work and went outside to play with the little white stuff on the ground. Snowflake was not sure what to make of this. She was sniffing the snow and growling at it at the same time. Soon she realized it was not harmful and just had a ball running in the snow and trying to eat the snow as it fell down. I tried to get video of that but of course she did it when the camera was off. Typical.

So now as i type this blog the snow is starting to melt and there is a snowflake or two slowly making it's way down. And when i think back to this day i will forever remember the day my baby made her first yellow snow.

This is a story of a night we threw beads.

On Tuesday i went out and celebrated Fat Tuesday. It's been awhile since i went out and did something for Mardi Gras. I think the last time was when i actually went to New Orleans a few years ago with some friends from church. I pretty much went out with some friends to hear my friend, Jason, perform and then we went to go see a friend who bartends at a local bar. I got to hang out with a friend from my childhood and it was really great to do that. It brought back old memories and i am sad that i missed out on about 10 years of friendship. So here a few pics from the night :c) Enjoy!

This is a story about dog shampoo.

So during one of my many trips to Petco i came across a product that had me laughing and what is even funnier is that i considered buying it for Snowflake.

Yes ... you are looking at it correctly. Salon shampoo for dogs (and other grooming products) from bedhead and Paul Mitchell. I knew about the the Paul Mitchell because Snowflake's groomer did not recommend it. She had heard it causes the dogs hair to fall out. Let's hope it is not the same for humans :) Well Snowflake already has an issue with her hair. She is a hypoallergenic dog so she is not supposed to shed and she sheds like craaaazy!!! I fell in love with the pethead products. I think the packaging is what got me. But Snowflake already has shampoo so pethead is staying at Petco.

Life here has pretty much slowed down which is great. I've been staying home but that is starting to get boring. When you have a go go go life things kinda get boring when everything slows down. But it's looking like it's going to pick back up. I have something to do for the next three weekends and will probably be penciling more stuff along the way.

Oh and today while sitting in my Popular Culture class i was thinking about how i am loving art history. I took this class as a second class so i could get my financial aide and now i am putting in my form to add art history as a minor. I know it's random ... math/actuarial and art history. now i am even considering getting a masters and phd in art history but we'll see. I might change my mind again. typical me. lol. so there is not much more to tell. Hopefully life will get a little more interesting. I get a blog and nothing happens except run in with pet products and it might get exciting for a second.

This is a story of a pot hole in my road.

have you ever had a moment where you take a step back and you evaluate your life and you come to realize that you are not where you'd like to be and that you have a list of fifty gazillion things you would love to change but you want all these changes to happen tomorrow but when you realize that tomorrow will be the same as today you just feel hopeless? Yep ... that is how i am feeling at this moment ... sigh

This is the story of my bad dog, Snowflake Louise Longtin.

Meet Snowflake
My West Highland White Terrier

She is about 1.25 years old and i have had her for a little over a year. Some of you have had the pleasure to meet her (at least she thinks it is a pleasure) or were able to hear her many adventures in making mom's life a living nightmare.

She is the typical puppy or i hope the typical puppy and has had her share of enjoying my make-up, my shoes, my dining room table, my craft stuff, other people's make-up, my carpet, my buttons on my clothes, random paper, half a pack of sugar free gum, my cell phone charger, almost my laptop cord and her fav, underwear (ew).

Her favorite past time is barking at the vacuum cleaner, people outside, at me for not doing what she wants or anything that is not supposed to be there like towels on the counters, boxes on the bed, or a mop/broom in the corner.

But in the end i love her to pieces and whenever she does wrong she can turn up the cute factor to the max and pretty much make me forget what she has done to get her in so much trouble. She is a pro when it comes to that. So check back often. I am pretty sure she will be the main topic in many more entries. Woof!

This is the story of possibly a new home.

So back in December i went to visit my bestfriend in Atlanta and while there we went to go visit his friend's new place which happened to be a loft. I absolutely loved her place. Since then i can not stop thinking about moving in a new place ... more specifically a loft. Just the idea of an open space, natural light and hardwood floors just have me wanting to move NOW! The thing is ... my lease is not up until August techinically it should have been up yesterday but since i transferred over to a two bedroom my lease started over ugh!!! But that didn't stop me from calling 11th street lofts and making an appt to go take a looksie at their pads. I am really excited and hopefully everything will work out so that maybe i can have a new place called home soon. YAY!!!

This is a story about the fabulous me.

Hi and welcome to my blog. I started a personal blog a month or so ago and well, i didn't keep up with it so it only had on post for quite awhile. So now i am onto my second one. I currently have 2 blogs ... this is going to be more about my daily life (including Snowflake) and my other blog is going to house my craft related stuff ... yummy! So to start things off i am going to list 25 random things about me (some you may already know). This has been big on facebook lately and i feel like i have been tagged like 20 times so i guess it is a sign. lol! here goes ...

~1~ I do not like people (including myself) touching my wrists and my achilles tendon. My brother likes to roll the vien in my wrist under his thumb and i completely spaz out!

~2~ I love lip gloss

~3~ My favorite color is pink but i do believe you can have too much pink and will hopefully not go that far

~4~ I have a daily routine in the morning and if i break the routine i get confused and have to take a minute to get back on track

~5~ I was an army brat ... or do you always stay an army brat

~6~ I love making things ... stamping and scrapbooking are my fav!

~7~ I'm a dog person and will probably always have one.

~8~ I am a very emotional person. A hallmark commercial has made me cry.

~9~ I'm a list person. I make lists for everything ... cleaning my house, things i have to do, how to manage my day. I don't exactly follow the list but i get a sense of accomplistment when i can cross something off.

~10~ I am a reality show junkie. My fav are big brother, survivor, america's next top model

~11~ I am a neat freak when it comes to my desk at work but i hate cleaning at home.

~12~ I love pictures. I feel like i need to put my whole life story in pictures on my wall.
